The Benefits of Using a Yoga Block

One of the primary benefits of a yoga block is that it can provide support while helping a practitioner maintain better positioning in a pose. By bringing the floor closer to the hands, a block can reduce the need to reach or round the spine simply to make contact with the floor. A block can also provide additional height beneath the hips or another part of the body, helping create a more stable and comfortable position. This makes blocks useful for modifying poses while still maintaining the general shape and intention of the posture.

Yoga blocks can also improve stability and give practitioners additional ways to work with a pose. They may be used to provide support during balancing poses, assist with alignment, or provide a stable surface during restorative practice. More experienced practitioners can use blocks in ways that change the position or challenge of a pose, while beginners can use them to make certain postures more accessible. The benefit of the block comes from using it to support the body appropriately rather than using it to force a greater range of motion.
